The new patch (v1.27) for Killzone 2 has been released this morning, all you need to do is be connected to the PlayStation Network, pop in you game disc and it is yours. In an interview with PlayStation Blog, Eric Boltjes (lead multiplayer designer) talked about that changes the new patch will bring to the game. Please carry on reading to see how the Killzone 2 multiplayer has been tweaked.
According to Macquarie Research Nintendo will be announcing three huge titles for the Wii at their E3 conference next week. Apparently they will be unveiling new Mario and Zelda titles along with a follow-up to the hugely successful Wii Fit. The report also suggests the new Wii Fit title will be sold as two different SKU’s, one will be the standalone game and the other will see the game getting bundled with the balance board. Now we know these are just rumours for now as nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo yet but there is definitely some substance behind them. In April Nintendo registered something called Wii Fit Plus with the Japanese Patent Office and then if that wasn’t proof enough there was also a logo to go with it which can be seen below.
Nintendo know that Wii Fit is a cash cow and they intend to milk it; I fully expect this new Wii Fit to been shown at E3. As for the new Mario and Zelda titles, well Nintendo would be crazy not to announce something about them at E3. Even though they are still currently rolling in the money thanks to the DS and Wii (plus Wii Fit) I think they know they need something please the more “hardcore” gamer and these titles certain fit that bill. There was a huge backlash after their underwhelming conference last year so yes I expect Nintendo will, at the very least, reveal details regarding these titles for gamers to salivate over during their E3 conference next week.
The previous footage and screenshots of God of War III looked good but lacked a certain polish. Well it seems Sony have been working hard as these new screenshots certainly look fan-bloody-tastic
Take-Two have today announced that Bioshock 2 will be coming to Europe on October 30th 2009. The big surprise is that this much anticipated title will be coming available to us Europeans a good few days before the North American release which is listed as November 3rd 2009. As most long time gamers will know, us cultured European folk are usually the ones who no-one acres and it is usually the Americans and Japanese that get their hands on the new releases first. Well, not this time!
Bioshock 2 is due to be released on PS3, 360 and PC.
Just moments ago Rockstar Games have announced the new DLC for the smash hit Grand Theft Auto IV. It is titled, The Ballad of Gay Tony. This fantastically titled new epsiode will see gamers playing as Luis Lopez, a part-time hooldum and assistant to legendary nightclub impressario Tony Prince (aka Gay Tony). Throughout the course game Luis will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.
Not just satisfied with announcing new DLC, Rockstar also have revealed that they will be releasing The Ballad of Gay Tony and, the previously released DLC, The Lost and Damned on disc for the Xbox 360 this Autumn. The disc will be called Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City and will retail at $39.99 in North America (no price for Europe yet, maybe £30?!). Strangely enough though unlike the downloadable versions of each episode, the disc-based episodes will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.
I get the feeling some gamers out there will not be happy about that decision. Many people kept their original copies of Grand Theft Auto IV after completion just so they could play the DLC so this emerging news won’t make them happy as the trade-in/selling price for the game is now very low. Interesting decision from Rockstar to say the least.
Both the DLC and disc based content for The Ballad of Gay Tony is due out this Autumn exclusively for the Xbox 360.
A surprise to some but not us, UFC 2009 has stormed into the top spot of the UK gaming charts this week and left Pokemon Platinum in its wake. Usually a newly released Pokemon title would be expected to go straight to the top but the unexpected success of UFC has seen that will not happen. From what we have been hearing most high street and online retailers even sold out of their initial stock a day or so after release! This weeks other big release, Bionic Commando, entered the charts at a lowly number 14. It seems like Nathan Spencer’s bionic arm couldn’t swing the game into a higher position, rightly so too according to my review.
This weeks UK top 10 in full as supplied by GfK Chart Track is:
- UFC: Undisputed
- Pokemon Platinum
- EA Sports Active
- Wii Fit
- FIFA 09
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine
- Wii Play
- Mario Kart Wii
- My Fitness Coach
- Call of Duty: World at War
